About This Place
The headquarters of Connecticut State Police Troop E are on I-395, but the troopers' duties are spread throughout 13 towns in the region, from the Connecticut River to the Rhode Island border, and from the shoreline north to Voluntown.
Master Sgt. Richard Crooks, 48, has been a state trooper for 22 years, and he likes the challenges of working in this area, with its diverse needs, people and geography. In some of the towns the troopers cover, the state police are the only police. In others, they are additional police, working and helping as needed.
Crooks says that traffic and DWI issues are a top priority for Troop E.
Throughout the year, Troop E stages a variety of charitable programs, including a winter-coat drive, a toy drive, the collection of wheelchairs and cell phones for people who need them and more.
