Fayetteville is a town in Fayette County, Georgia, United States. The population was 11,148 at the 2000 Census. Census Estimates of 2005 indicate a population of 14,363. The city is the county seat of Fayette County. Fayetteville is located approximately 22 miles from the city of Atlanta.
As of the 2000 Census, there were 11,148 people, 4,338 households, and 2,967 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,126.7 people per square mile (435.2/km²). There were 4,572 housing units at an average density of 462.1 per square mile (178.5/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 80.44% White, 13.97% African American, 0.22% Native American, 3.33% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.95% from other races, and 1.09% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.78% of the population.
