Bartlett is a village located in both Cook County and DuPage County, Illinois. A small parcel on the western border is in Kane County. The population was 36,706 at the 2000 census. A 2002 recount gave the village a population of 37,304. In 2007 another recount gives the village a population of 41,500. The community now known as the Village of Bartlett was named after founder Luther Bartlett who offered land to the railroad.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 15.0 square miles (38.7 km²), of which, 14.8 square miles (38.4 km²) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.4 km²) of it (0.94%) is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 36,706 people, 12,179 households, and 9,986 families residing in the village. The population density was 2,477.9 people per square mile (956.9/km²). There were 12,356 housing units at an average density of 834.1 per square mile (322.1/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 87.23% White, 1.98% African American, 0.14% Native American, 7.82% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 1.35% from other races, and 1.45% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 5.51% of the population.
