Palos Park is an affluent village, in southwestern Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 4,689 at the 2000 census.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 3.8 square miles (9.9 kmÂ²), of which, 3.8 square miles (9.8 kmÂ²) of it is land and 0.04 square miles (0.1 kmÂ²) of it (1.05%) is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 4,689 people, 1,802 households, and 1,389 families residing in the village. The population density was 1,241.8 people per square mile (479.0/kmÂ²). There were 1,852 housing units at an average density of 490.5 per square mile (189.2/kmÂ²). The racial makeup of the village was 97.16% White, 0.28% African American, 0.04% Native American, 1.73% Asian, 0.19% from other races, and 0.60% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.11% of the population.
