Saranac is a village in Ionia County in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the village had a population of 1,326.
Saranac is the birthplace of world-renowned geologist J. Harlan Bretz.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.2 square miles (3.2 km²), of which, 1.2 square miles (3.0 km²) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.1 km²) of it (4.10%) is water.
