Sterling is a village in Arenac County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 533 at the 2000 census.

As of the census of 2000, there were 533 people, 185 households, and 132 families residing in the village. The population density was 532.1 per square mile (205.8/km²). There were 197 housing units at an average density of 196.7 per square mile (76.1/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 97.56% White, 0.38% Native American, 0.38% from other races, and 1.69% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.13% of the population.
