The city was named for Governor William Clark.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.8 square miles (2.1 km²), of which, 0.5 square miles (1.2 km²) of it is land and 0.4 square miles (0.9 km²) of it (43.90%) is water.
