La Vergne (pronounced /ləvɜrn/ lə-vurn) is a city in Rutherford County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 18,687 at the 2000 census. La Vergne lies within the Nashville Metropolitan Statistical Area.
La Vergne is located at 36°0′48″N 86°33′46″W / 36.01333°N 86.56278°W / 36.01333; -86.56278 (36.013330, -86.562682). It directly borders the Antioch neighborhood of Nashville on the northwest, Smyrna on the southeast, and J. Percy Priest Lake on the northeast.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 25.1 square miles (65.0 km²), of which, 24.8 square miles (64.2 km²) of it is land and 0.3 square miles (0.8 km²) of it (1.20%) is water.
