Arbre Bar and Pantry is located, conveniently on the first floor of Canberra's Novotel Hotel in the City with views over Northbourne Ave . Once inside you will feel an immediate sense of calm from the bustle of the city below. The menu, designed by Executive Chef Jennie Tressler and is themed in order to take the diner on a journey through the season. Jennie designs the courses to tie in with the season and only uses what she can get from that season and wherever possible local suppliers are used to showcase the Canberra area and what the local area has to offer. The result is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy multiple cuisines in the one, familiar venue over return visits. Certainly repeat custom is advisable, as in proper hotel style, the service is polished but friendly and providing confidence that the meal will be relaxed and effortless. As the sun sets and the crowd grows, the staff glide between tables armed with friendly banter and mouth-watering food. The wine-list offers a broad variety of flavours, styles and regions. Everything from highlights of the local growers through to the best of French sparkling is on offer. Feature producers such as Robert Oatley occasionally run ranges throughout the menu, giving avid quaffers the opportunity to explore a range of varietals from one stable. That’s not all, though, Arbre also has a bar and a cosy area next to a fire to enjoy a coffee and a light snack – at the entry to the restaurant - offers the perfect place for an aperitif (or perhaps a post-meal digestif) Arbre Bar and pantry at the Novotel is the perfect destination for visitors and Canberrans alike to unwind and relax.
