Southern Moreton Bay Islands (Russell Island) Museum: The Moreton Bay Islands have a rich history, from over 25,000 years of Indigenous habitation to Mathew Flinders' 1799 exploration and 19th-century European settlement and farming. The Russell Island (Canaipa) Museum, a sub-branch of the Redland Museum, showcases artefacts from rural activities like farming and logging, as well as 19th-century daily life. It also features exhibits on waterborne travel, including photographs of various vessels such as the fruit boat Ivanhoe. Located in the Moreton Bay Marine Park, Russell Island is known for its bush walks, freshwater swamps, wildflowers, and birdlife. Passenger and car ferries run regularly from Redland Bay to the island. Museum Address: 55 Jackson Road, opposite the Bowls Club, Russell Island
