145 Rooke Street
Devonport, Tasmania 7310
The Devonport Regional Gallery presents an annual program of exhibitions, education and public programs including events and workshops, and contributes to the cultural, social and educational life of the local community, boasting an impressive collection of fine art with a focus on Tasmanian contemporary art, craft and design. In the Main & Upper Gallery spaces, exhibitions from the Gallery's Permanent Collection, staff-curated exhibitions and touring exhibitions are displayed. The Little Gallery showcases the work of emerging Tasmanian artists with a focus on artists from the North West Region. The Devonport Regional Gallery evolved from The Little Gallery, which was founded by Jean Thomas in 1966. The Little Gallery was situated in a weatherboard building behind the Baptist Church (built 1904) in Stewart Street, which became the home of the Gallery until 2018. The Gallery then relocated to the heritage-listed building of the paranaple arts centre on Rooke Street in November 2018.
