The Tamworth Truck Drivers Memorial, established in 2000 by the Tamworth Truck Drivers Club, serves as a poignant tribute to the men and women who have tragically lost their lives while working in the transport industry. Located on the New England Highway in South Tamworth, the memorial features approximately 180 plaques commemorating drivers from the region and beyond, alongside personal notes, flowers, and photographs left by loved ones.
Officially unveiled on October 28, 2000, by Tony Windsor MP, the memorial is one of only four such sites in Australia dedicated to professional drivers. With support from the New South Wales Government in 2015, it continues to honor the legacy of those who dedicated their lives to the road, reminding the community of their invaluable contributions and the importance of safety in the transport industry.
