Good old days on the farm, in the scenic surroundings of Presbakken. Salangen Country Museum lies nestled in beautiful and fertile farmland at Prestbakken in Upper Salangen. In the early 1700s people from Southern Norway moved here and cleared land for farming. The museum consists of seven buildings, all re-located to Prestbakken. The buildings include a farmhouse, barn, storehouse, sheds, smithy, and a mill. The farmhouse, known as Limostua, dates from the 1870s. A wonderful collection of around 1500 arifacts, primarly kitchen utensils, furniture, carpentry and farming tools, wagons, and an entire shoemakers workshop create an atmosphere not unlike thar in Hamsuns book Growth of the Soil. Salangen Country Museum opens a door to farm life in the far North.

Troms Defense Museum is dedicated to the strong military history of this region. Exhibitions focus on the 20th century, with special emphasis on the battle of Narvik and WWII, and on the era of the cold war 1953-1996. The exhibition "Abroad for Peace" investigates the history of the Norwegian soldiers serving in UN-led operations 1947 - 2014.

Historic property, build in 1909, about to be revitalized! The old postoffice in Langhamn redecorated and opened as "Atelier 9343". Here you can find ethical, norwegian designergoods, such as jewellery from Vinterhoff, handbags made with fishleather from EBEN, clothing from AOE and art from Alvin Jensvold to name a few. From July 2016 there will be a small norwegian coffeeshop that served black coffe, icecream, waffles and soda. Boat rental, apartments for rent and a small cafe will follow. Welcome!
