The Longkeeper

A little story about an onion….. In 1865, The Turbot Family arrive in New Zealand aboard ‘Her Lady the Ganges’ setting farm in Harrisville of Pukekohe East. The son of the family, John Turbott, becomes obsessed with inventing an onion free of doubles, with a round global body, tightly layered flesh, long keeping qualities. After decades of rigorous breeding and careful selection, it is said Turbott burst into tears of bliss whilst cutting his onion. For it was perfection And so to honour this little gem of an onion we settled on ‘The Longkeeper’. Pukekohe's newest venue for food and beverage and we are keen to stick around. We have a well-crafted menu full of fine food and a healthy drinks cabinet to please your thirsty palate. All welcome to chill in the afternoon sun, relax after a hard days’ work or party into the night and maybe even bust some moves on the floor. We will have music selectors and live music every week at the Sunday Social and very rude Bingo has just arrived, If you haven’t tried out New Zealand’s original comedy bingo then you should!
