Birchcraft Kitchens, based in Reading, Pa., has been a manufacturer of custom cabinetry for more than 45 years. Founded in the early 1940s as a small, family-owned, custom cabinet shop, the company became Birchcraft Kitchens in 1957. The company selects wood for each individual order and hand assembles and sands cabinet components. Its each set of cabinets is carefully constructed to meet homeowner s individual needs where only one finisher skillfully hand stains an entire order. Building doors and drawers in its own factory allows Birchcraft to meet precise delivery dates while carefully controlling both the color and grain uniformity of the wood. Its door panels do not expand and contract due to temperature and humidity changes. The inside of each cabinet is given special treatment by hand sanding. This prevents the build up of finish in inaccessible corners, allows for a uniform color and a perfectly smooth surface free from over-spray.
