Established in 1911, the Georgia Department of Labor works towards industrial and occupational safety and administration of labor laws. The Georgia Department of Labor also inspects elevators, escalators, sidewalks, boilers, pressure vessels, safety glass and high-voltage lines. The department administers Georgia's unemployment insurance, as well as offers information regarding work force to public and private sectors.
