The Heart of Texas Council of Governments, also known as HOTCOG, is an organization of local government bodies working together voluntarily to solve mutual problems. The organization has more than 80 members that include school districts, community colleges, and city and county governments. It serves Bosque, Falls, Freestone, Hill, Limestone and McLennan counties in Texas. The Heart of Texas Council of Governments has been in operation since 1966. The organization is responsible for area and economic development activities. It also reviews and comments on proposals seeking federal and state financial assistance. The Heart of Texas Council of Governments implements regional plans.
