Sun Life Stadium is a stadium located in Miami Gardens, Florida. Sun Life Stadium currently houses the NFL team the Miami Dolphins and the NCAA team the University of Miami Hurricanes. The stadium opened as Joe Robbie Stadium on August 16, 1987 with the construction taking just under two years at a cost of just over $115 million, which is about $232 million is present day dollars.  Before Sun Life signed a five-year naming rights deal in 2010, the stadium had held several names from Pro Player Park to Dolphins Stadium. The stadium was built for the Dolphins so they wouldn’t have to play at the Orange Bowl.

The Dolphins are two time Super Bowl Champions and are members of the East Division of the American Football Conference within the NFL.  They are known by their team colors consisting of orange and green. The majority owners of the Dolphins are Stephen M. Ross and Wayne Huizenga.

The Miami Hurricanes are five time national championships and are members of the Coastal Division of the Atlantic Coast Conference within the NCAA.  They are known by there team colors consisting of green and white.

The stadium currently holds 75,540 fans. There are 216 luxury suites and over 10,000 seats at the club level. Currently, it was the seventh largest stadium in the NFL. Sun Life Stadium is also a great venue for concerts and has hosted such musicians as Madonna, U2 and Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z.

Sun Life Stadium has hosted five Super Bowls due to requirements stating the host stadium must have a February temperature average above 50 degrees to host the Super Bowl. The stadium also hosts the annual Discover Orange Bowl for the NCAA.

Tickets are readily available on the team site and there is no waitlist for season tickets.
