Glamping: Nature staycation combined with comfort

Maybe you’re like me. Maybe you love nature. You love the “idea” of camping, if not particularly everything that comes with it.

I am sort of an outdoors person. I like hiking, rafting, kayaking, wildlife … many outdoor adventures. But I also like to have a hot shower at the end of it. A comfy bed and a nice place to lay my head.

I also like adventure, and when it comes to places to stay, I’ve really grown to love the unique. The unusual. Something that goes way beyond a typical hotel room.

These are all the reasons why glamping is perfect for me.

I remember when I first heard the term “glamping” a few years ago and thought it sounded mildly ridiculous. Another new travel buzzword, and something that was kind of wussy and silly.

Now I’ve come to realize that I’m the perfect glamper. I don’t require luxury, by any means. But I would rather not have bugs in my tent, cold showers when it’s not warm outside, or to be splattered in mud. And if all of this can be accomplished while still being able to be in nature, perhaps disconnecting a bit with the “real world” as well as having accommodations that are really different…okay fine, I’m a glamping fan!

But what, exactly, IS glamping?

Glamping, also known as luxury camping or glamorous camping, is that escape you’ve been meaning to take. It’s that little break from the hustle and bustle. It’s a moment by yourself in a secluded treehouse. It’s that chance to try climbing up a mountain or diving into the sea.
