The Bear Exploration Center is a public magnet school that has an annual enrollment of more than 450 students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Located in Montgomery, Ala., it offers a variety of programs in mathematics, science and technology. The center employs a work force of classroom teachers, artists in residence, counselors, library media specialists and reading coaches. The Bear Exploration Center maintains a parent-teacher association that sponsors numerous assemblies and fieldtrips, as well as supports classroom budget requirements. It is a part of Montgomery Public Schools, which operates more than 60 educational institutions with a combined population of over 31,500 students.
