Located in Mobile, Ala., the Mobile Police Department is a law enforcement agency that protects residents lives, property and individual rights and maintains peace and order. It has a special operations division that is comprised of traffic, tactical response, homeland security and mounted patrol units. The Mobile Police Department also operates a support service division that includes training, communication, records, data entry, warrants, building maintenance and property units. The department employs more than 700 full-time, sworn officers, volunteers and civilians. The Mobile Police Department maintains a police museum that features a collection of artifacts, photographs, and videotaped and oral history related to the police department.
