Established in 1952, St. Ignatius Catholic School serves the educational needs of more than 450 students, and offers classes from grades kindergarten through eight. The Catholic elementary school offers classes in various subjects, including math, computer science, religious studies, English, Spanish, science and technology, social studies, language arts, health education, arts and crafts, music and physical education. It lays emphasis on enhancing the reading, writing and language skills of students. The school also offers various extracurricular activities for students, such as math counts, geography bee, computer fair, scholar s bowl, spelling bee, and science and math leagues. It has athletic teams for soccer, volleyball, basketball, cross-country, cheerleading and football. Located in Mobile, Ala., St. Ignatius Catholic School is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
