Since 1989, West Alabama AIDS Outreach has been serving case management as well as prevention education for affected individuals. Located in Tuscaloosa, Ala., the organization educates the community about HIV/AIDS across Tuscaloosa, Lamar, Fayette, Bibb, Pickens, Greene, Hale, Walker, Perry and Sumter counties. Through Alabama Rural AIDS Project (ARAP), it also helps rural people at risk for HIV infection and to link these patients to available services. The West Alabama AIDS Outreach provides one grocery bag of food per month to the clients who can demonstrate need.
