Hextex, located in Tucson, Ariz., manufactures large lightweight glass substrates and mirrors for use in ground based, airborne and space borne optical systems. The company s products have been selected and deployed by the Department of Defense, Department of Energy, NASA, aerospace companies, universities and international organizations for use in remote sensing, laser fusion, imaging, laboratory, telescope and metrology systems. Hextex was founded in 1985 as a technology spin-off of the University of Arizona's Steward Observatory Mirror Laboratory to commercialize a new lightweight glass substrate technology known as 'Gas-Fusion. Since inception, the company has manufactured more than 400 blanks and mirrors for customers through the world.
