Amoeba Music calls itself the supreme source for musical inspiration. Born in 1990 in Berkeley, Calif., Amoeba Music is fashioned after some of the great independent record stores. It stocks everything from the most popular artists to the most obscure in all genres, including jazz, international folk, popular music, roots music, classical, rock and soul music, just to name a few. In addition to music on compact disc, Amoeba sells vinyl records, DVDs, videos, posters and T-shirts. Amoeba Music also has a store in San Francisco s historic Haight-Ashbury district, which has been a hot spot for cutting-edge cultural change for several decades. It operates a third store on Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles.
