The Claremont Police Department staff consists of nearly 40 officers, a support staff of nearly 25 civilian employees and an additional 30-plus part-time staff and volunteers. The department provides law enforcement services to the city of Claremont, Calif., which has a population of more than 36,000 people and encompasses an area of approximately 14 square miles. The total department budget is nearly $8 million. The operations division of the department is organized into patrol, detective, traffic and support services bureaus. The department averages approximately 2,600 arrests per year and writes more than 5,000 police reports.
