This is the Los Angeles branch of Pacifica Institute, a non-profit, organization promoting cross-cultural awareness and communication. The organization was founded by the Turkish-American Community of California in 2003, and was originally called Global Cultural Connections. The institute brings people together from diverse communities through conferences, panels, public forums and art events. This branch, located in Westwood Village, hosts luncheons, dinners, festivals, trips and discussions. With its proximity to UCLA, the organization also partners with the academic resources there in providing Turkish studies and Ney courses. As part of its interest in building a better society, Pacifica Institute participates in public service activities, and has contributed to Pakistan Earthquake Relief, Tsunami Relief and California Fires Relief. Pacific Institute also has branches in Orange County, San Diego, Silicon Valley, Sacramento and Las Vegas.
