More than 75 years ago, E.L. Bruce was faced with termites in his hardwood flooring products. Realizing that he was not alone in his fight against termites, he founded The Terminix International Company in 1927 and earned the first United States patent for a termite control procedure. It grew to be one of the largest termite and pest control companies in the world. The company has provided services to more than 1.9 million homes and businesses in the U.S., and in nearly 15 countries worldwide. In 1969, it expanded to offer general pest control, as well as termite control, to residential, commercial and industrial establishments. For decades, its team of entomologists has studied all types of insects to ensure customers have complete protection from infestation. In 1986, The Terminix International Company joined The ServiceMaster Company, one of the country's largest service companies. The Redding, Calif., location is one of several in the United States.
