Mile Square Regional Park is one of Orange County's premier venues for landlocked outdoor activities. Located in Fountain Valley on the former site of a military training field, this park packs its square mile with gently rolling hills, three regulation golf courses, and two lakes. It's an ideal oasis for those that need a break from the daily grind.

Parking and public transportation at Mile Square Regional Park
Parking here costs $3-$10 depending on the day you visit. You can skirt the fee by parking on the streets surrounding the park, but you may have to circle the block a few times to find success.

Best and worst time go to Mile Square Regional Park
March through May is great because the park features extended hours without the summertime crowds or heat. June through August can be brutal, especially if you're intent on finding free parking.

Admission to Mile Square Regional Park
There is no additional fee to enter the park other than parking. Some park activities like golfing or renting a paddleboat do cost extra.

Must see/do at Mile Square Regional Park
The outdoor archery range is a must for anyone that's ever wanted to pick up a bow and arrow. You can also bring your fishing pole and try your hand at catching a fish at one of the two lakes. If you want to work out, the undulating pathway that weaves through the park features special exercise stations.

Other places to visit near Mile Square Regional Park
A 15-minute drive gets you to the lively shores of Huntington State Beach. If you'd rather shop, you can take a 20-minute drive to Downtown Disney. You're also a 10-minute drive from South Coast Plaza's luxury stores.

Insider tip for visitors to Mile Square Regional Park
If you have the itch to play some basketball or tennis after work, head to the west side of the park. You'll find a special community athletic complex that has extended hours.
