If you're driving down El Camino Real, you've probably noticed a chef peering over a tower of hotcakes as you pass Santa Cruz Avenue. The building is home to Stacks Restaurant, an extremely popular spot for breakfast and lunch. The family-friendly restaurant separates itself from the competition, General Manager Bryan Godfrey says, with a superb staff, friendly customers and a large community of regulars that give the restaurant a homey feel.

Stacks is known for its breakfasts, and it doesn't disappoint. In addition to all the classics, Stacks' breakfast specialties are banana macadamia nut coconut pancakes, a crab crepe, crab omelette and, Bryan's favorite dish, the bacon waffle. Fully-cooked bacon bits are mixed into the waffle batter and, when the final product is covered in warm syrup, you get a mouthwatering combination of sweet and savory.

Though Stacks is known for its breakfasts, Bryan insists that the lunches are just as good, if not better. Be sure to try the chili dog and taco salad. To top it off, while you're served mountains of delicious food no matter what you get, the most expensive dish on the menu is $13.29.

The only downside is a product of Stacks' popularity: there's often a wait. This is especially true if you come between 9am and 1pm. Stacks does take reservations, but only for parties of six or more.
