Thirsty Bear Brewing Company owns and operates the Thirsty Bear Restaurant & Brewery in San Francisco. The Brewery and Restaurant are housed in a brick warehouse directly across the street from the Moscone Center and the Yerba Buena Center for the Performing Arts. Construction on the three-story facility began in 1995 and the restaurant opened in 1996. Thirsty Bear is the first brewery restaurant in the United States to serve an authentic Spanish menu. Its signature dishes include paellas, kokoxas, segundos and costillas. The restaurant pours more than nine handcrafted beers, including Polar Bear Lager, Valencia Wheat, Brown Bear Ale and Golden Vanilla. ThirstyBear also has a full bar with a wide selection of single malt scotches, a variety Spanish brandies, Spanish wines and fine liquors. The restaurant was named Best Spanish Restaurant 2001 by San Francisco Weekly.
