The Castle Rock Fire and Rescue Department (CRFD) works to protect the lives and property of the residents in an area of more than 75 square miles, including the town of Castle Rock and the Castle Rock Fire Protection District in Douglas County, Colo. Founded in 1892, it employs a staff of over 70 career and volunteer personnel. The department s fleet includes 15 units that is comprised of ladder trucks, engines and medic vans. The Castle Rock Fire and Rescue Department provides advanced life support, emergency medical services, public and risk-reduction education, hazardous materials response, mitigation and technical rescue, and fire prevention, inspection and suppression services. With a fire station in Castle Rock, Colo., it maintains a communication center that responds to nearly 3,600 service calls annually.
