The U.S. Census Bureau serves as one of the leading sources of data about the nation s people and economy. The activities of the census bureau include collecting statistical information about the American population and economy. It employs more than 10,000 people and has over ten regional offices, including offices in Atlanta, Boston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Chicago and Dallas. It also offers fellowship and international programs. The fellowship program offered by the U.S. Census Bureau is designed to bridge the gap between government and academic science. In addition, it operates an international programs center, which is a part of the population division of the U.S. Census Bureau and it conducts demographic and socioeconomic studies and improves statistical development worldwide through technical assistance, training and software products.
