Lone Tree is located at 39°32?56?N 104°53?33?W / 39.548947°N 104.892546°W / 39.548947; -104.892546. It is on the northern border of Douglas County, and directly adjacent to Arapahoe County. It is in what is called the 'south metro' area of Denver, and is a suburb of Denver.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.7 square miles (4.5 km²), all of it land.
