In 1955, St Vincent's Special Needs Service was established in Bridgeport as a therapy treatment program for children with cerebral palsy. The organization has been a subsidiary of the St. Vincent's Health Services system since 1987. Its staff includes early childhood and special education teachers and assistants, physical and occupational therapists, speech/language pathologists, adult day program specialists and assistants, job coaches, residential direct care counselors, community recreation and family support facilitators, and other specialists in the education, health and human services fields. The center is located in Trumbull, Conn.

Established in 1991, PrimeCare provides a variety of services for individuals with disabilities. The organization employs more than 250 staff members who serve over 240 individuals at nearly 15 locations throughout Connecticut. It offers nursing, psychiatric and behavioral health care services. PrimeCare operates group homes across Connecticut licensed as community living arrangements by the state Department of Mental Retardation. The organization provides consultation and training services in behavior and disability management, habilitative programming and adaptations to the environment. In addition, it offers respite care services, as well as provides occupational, speech language and physical therapies.
