Founded in 1851, the Meriden Fire Department operates through more than 100 firefighters and 5 career stations and serves over 60,000 residents. It offers various services that include fire suppression, rescue and emergency medical services to the citizens. It manages the Fire Marshall s office, the Public Safety Dispatch Office and the department Training Division. The department responds to fires, medical emergencies, hazardous material incidents, rescue, and aircraft and rescue firefighting.
