Sports Medicine at the New England Musculoskeletal Institute specializes in the care and treatment of athletic injuries. It treats sprains, complex joint problems, and muscle and ligament disorders. The division performs a range of surgical and nonsurgical treatment procedures. Sports Medicine at the New England Musculoskeletal Institute also provides on-site care services at athletic contests and events. It is located in Farmington, Conn. The New England Musculoskeletal Institute has expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of problems affecting bones, joints, muscles and connective tissues. It offers services in the areas of orthopedic surgery, total joint replacement, osteoporosis, arthritis and rheumatologic conditions, and spinal, hand and neck pain. The institute is a part of the University of Connecticut Health Center, which was founded in 1961. The University of Connecticut Health Center is comprised of the School of Medicine, School of Dental Medicine, John Dempsey Hospital, UConn Medical Group, UConn Health Partners and University Dentists. The health center occupies an area of more than 200 acres, employs over 4,500 people and has an enrollment of nearly 28,000 students.
