Established in 1950, Sousa Middle School is a public educational institution that enrolls students in grades six through eight. It provides a range of academic and recreational programs for students, as well as conducts classes in science, music, language arts, and health and physical education. Sousa Middle School also offers instruction in social studies, math, reading and art. Its facilities are spread over an area of more than 255,000 square feet. The school provides the Art Intensive Program for students in grade six, as well as transportation, meal, counseling, guidance and mentoring services. Sousa Middle School is located in Washington, D.C., and is a part of District of Columbia Public Schools, which governs elementary, middle and high schools.
