The Gulf Coast Visitor Center in Everglades City, FL serves as the gateway for exploring the Ten Thousand Islands, a maze of mangrove islands and waterways that extend to Flamingo and Florida Bay. The original visitor center was destroyed by Hurricane Irma in 2017, and a temporary contact station was later destroyed by Hurricane Ian in 2022, resulting in limited visitor services.

As construction proceeds, the tour company Everglades National Park Adventures offers boat tours to the Ten Thousand Islands, visiting natural and cultural resources as well as historical landmarks along the Barron River. Restrooms are available in a nearby trailer, and camping reservations can be made online or in-person at the visitor center.
