Miami-Dade County Public Schools administration is based in Miami. It serves Miami-Dade County, Fla., and the Greater Miami area. It is one of the largest school districts in Florida, as well in the United States, with a student enrollment of more than 370,000. The district is also one of the largest minority public school systems in the country, with more than 60 percent of its students being of Hispanic origin and over 30 percent African-American. It is also one of a few public school districts in the U.S. to offer optional bilingual education. The superintendent and a board of school directors administer the establishment. It administers more than 300 elementary, middle and high schools, as well as alternative and specialized schools, and adult vocational centers.
