The Water, Gas and Light Commission, also known as WG&L, has been serving the residents of Dougherty County and Albany in Georgia since 1912. It is one of the largest, municipally owned public utilities in Mississippi that offers water and energy to citizens. The commission serves more than 38,000 customers and maintains over 98,000 meters. It also has a staff of nearly 270 employees. The commission has approximately 535 miles of water lines. The Water, Gas and Light Commission provides services for homes and businesses. In addition, it offers customer-oriented and educational programs and maintains wells and aquifers. The commission operates a customer service department.
