Established in 1975, Sandy Springs Middle School serves more than 700 students in grades six through eight. It offers academic programs in language arts, mathematics, science, Spanish, French and social studies. The school additionally conducts classes in computer literacy, family and consumer science, technology education, visual arts, and health and physical education. Sandy Springs Middle School has an athletics department that offers a variety of sports activities, such as soccer, volleyball and basketball. It supports the Future Business Leaders of America and art, jazz, scrabble, dance and chess clubs. In addition, the school offers English for Speakers of Other Languages and accelerated reader programs, as well as gifted and talented education. Sandy Springs Middle School is located in Atlanta and is a part of the Fulton County School System. It is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
