<p>Although it does not promote any specific Christian denomination, Excel began as a ministry of the Church at Liberty Square, a Church of God. Students and staff now represent more than 50 churches of varying denominations.</p> <p>Excel's first graduating class was in 2000, and the school now has students in grades K - 12. Some participate in extracurricular activities and sports, such as basketball, softball and cheerleading.</p>
