The Columbus Ledger-Enquirer was awarded first place in feature photography, headline writing and layout by the Georgia Press Association in 2004. The newspaper covers local news, sports, business and entertainment, in addition to national news and politics. The Ledger-Enquirer was formed when The Columbus Ledger and The Columbus Enquirer merged in 1988. The paper s history can be traced back to 1828, when the city was still in its planning stages.
