Established in 1966, West Georgia Technical College provides educational degrees and courses in various subjects. The college provides applied science degree in various subjects, including fire science, accounting, networking system, medical assisting, radiology and criminal justice. Its diploma programs include cosmetology, culinary arts, drafting technology and nursing. West Georgia Technical College offers adult literacy program that includes instruction in reading comprehension, reading in the content areas, mathematics and language arts. Additionally, the college provides various job oriented courses, such as AutoCAD, food production, printing and quality auditing. It has a bookstore that provides books for underprivileged students. West Georgia Technical College is approved by the Council on Occupational Education and the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
