Located at Hickam Air Force Base, the Hawaii Air National Guard is comprised of the 154th Wing, the 201st Combat Communications Group and the 199th Weather Flight. The HIANG has two missions: protect Hawaii's citizens and property and provide combat units, combat support units and qualified personnel for active duty in the United States Air Force. The Air National Guard has been a part of United States history since the Revolutionary War. Today s Air National Guard is a separate reserve component of the U.S. Air Force. There are more than 140 Air Guard units throughout the U.S. and its territories. While missions vary from unit to unit, some interesting ones include pararescue missions, modular airborne firefighting support, combat communications and air traffic control.
