Hawai'i Slam is a non-profit organization dedicated to showcasing the vibrant poetic talent of the islands and managing the nationally certified First Thursdays slam poetry competition. Founded and hosted by Kealoha, Hawai'i's first Poet Laureate Emeritus, First Thursdays has gained recognition as the largest registered poetry slam in the world, attracting up to 400 attendees. The event features Hawai'i's top performance poets, live musicians, MCs, DJs, and live painters, alongside national touring poets. HistoryOpera on Tap was started in 2005 in New York City. Our Honolulu branch is brand new, with our first performance in November of 2012.
