Bollen, who has been influential in helping shelters across the East Coast improve quality of life and adoptability for shelter animals with her behavior modification programs, also will work with the shelter staff during her visit here."I was fortunate to work with Kelley in New York, " said Nadia Novik, shelter operations manager. "I know how beneficial she will be, not only in further improving the lives of our dogs while they are at the shelter, but also in providing tools for our staff to use with our animals. We are excited to have Kelley help design behavior treatment plans for our dogs, train our staff, and guide our volunteers."Topics in the "Good Dog 101" seminar will include how to deal with some common behavior problems, why dogs do what they do, how to best train them, how dogs learn, and how to read dog body language. Bollen's presentations will include slides and video collected from her many years in the field."At The Animal Shelter of the Wood River Valley, we are committed to finding each of our animals a forever home. We know a strong behavior and enrichment program is essential to this goal. Improving the quality of life for animal shelter residents increases their adoptability, " said JoAnne Dixon, D.V.M., shelter executive director.Although the program is free, a $10 donation would be appreciated to defray costs, Dixon said. Participants are requested not to bring pets to the presentations.Cat Adoption Gallery100 Croy Creek Road, ID 83333 P.O.
