Established in 1965, Champaign County Head Start is social service program of the Champaign County Regional Planning Commission to meet the needs of low-income children and families. Its health and nutrition services ensure that children receive comprehensive health care, including medical, dental, mental health and nutrition services. Its educational services allow children to participate in a variety of age appropriate learning experiences to foster intellectual, social, emotional and physical growth. It also offers special services that meet the needs of children with developmental delays and disabilities by coordinating with early intervention and early childhood programs to provide appropriate developmental services. Champaign County Head Start s mental health services include classroom observations, individual and family counseling, and mental health assessments for children and families.
