Government Finance Officers Association, located in Chicago, is an association of state, provincial and local finance officers in the United States and Canada, and has been serving the public finance sector since 1906. The association has more than 15,000 members for management of government financial resources. It offers a wide range of services, including accounting, auditing and financial reporting, budgeting and financial planning, and capital finance and debt administration. Government Finance Officers Association also offers various other services, such as cash management and investments, financial management, retirement administration, and health care and other employee benefits services. The association publishes several books and periodicals on government finance topics. It conducts national level training programs for finance managers, and offers scholarships for students in public finance. The association provides a variety of technical recognition programs, including the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting.
